Big Basin Dune and Mountain Pinot Noir

The vibrant, spicy red fruit, beautiful silky texture and mouthfeel and a finish that is long and sustained. The aromatics jump out of the glass and the wine that follows is equally expressive and compelling. This is every bit the equal of some of our single vineyard cuvées at an 'appellation wine' price. It is drinking beautifully now, but will certainly come together more with time in bottle. If you have the patience to cellar wines, then this is a wine that will pay you dividends over the next 5 - 15 years.

The first of the two vineyard sources for this wine is one of our favorites - Coastview Vineyard high atop the Gabilan Mountains at 2400 feet and planted in decomposed granite. The second is the Lester Family Vineyard located just a few miles from the center of Monterey Bay and is planted in ancient sand dunes. The heavy fog typical at this vineyard slows down the ripening making this one of the latest Pinot picks every year.
