"Three clones of Cabernet are planted on our estate and this wine clearly delineates all three. Blackberry notes from Clone 15.  Floral notes from Clone 337.  And from Clone 7, structure and backbone.  Overall, the wine is very dense, with concentrated spice, fruit and earth.  The oak is perfectly integrated, drawing out the wine's blackberry compote and dark chocolate truffle flavors.  While it drinks well now the wine will evolve over time to reveal sweet earth and cognac flavors. Only 477 cases made."

"And in 2014, we harvested the first crop of our newer blocks, planted with some heirloom clones. First impressions: The nose is distinctively spicy – nutmeg and clove – an homage to the sophisticated barrel program, which we continue to refine. As the wine opens up, the delicate strawberry compote nose floats to the rim of the glass. The nose is sweet, like smelling a sugar glaze as it is drizzled on a warm spice cake. In the mouth, the texture is like a perfectly brewed cup of Assam tea – warm and just enough tannin to give the palate length and duration. This is not a heavy, chewy wine. On the contrary, it is built for lasting pleasure. Give this wine some time to open up, and possibly decant it.
