TASTING NOTE: On the nose, you are met with dark notes of black cherry, cassis, and liquorice which make the mouth water instantly.
The palate carries these aromas through, with succulent berry flavours complemented by rich vanilla undertones. There is a minerality that balances out the richness, with iodine and tannins making for an interesting first sip. You will also find flavours of woodsmoke and an earthiness that gives our Midnight a lingering, meaty finish.
Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Residual Sugar: 2.5 g/l
Midnight will meet its perfect match on the barbecue – especially if the match is in the form of medium-rare steak or lamb. The smokiness of the meat is the ideal pairing for the woodsmoke notes you will find in the glass.
Add strong, sharp gouda or cheddar and grilled onions to your meat, and you have the ideal dish for our full-bodied red wine. Lamb with plenty of rosemary and lashings of butter is the perfect winter accompaniment for this rich red. If you prefer lighter food, roast chicken and vegetables pair wonderfully with a glass our nuanced Midnight.
