One of the most subtle wines in all of Burgundy ! The colour may vary from cherry to ruby. A large palette of seductive aromas which can evolve, one minute to the next, from raspberry to kirsch. Later, the nose may display some truffle, mushroom or woody notes and, in some years, musky, even animal nuances. The aromas are always restrained and elegant. On the palate, a wonderful silky sensation, with very refined tannins. Intensity, velvety texture and lively freshness: this well-named wine is a masterpiece of harmony. The aftertaste is very delicate and leaves an impression of supreme refinement.
Les Amoureuses is the most famous and highly respected of the 24 Premier Cru climats in Chambolle-Musigny.
2012 - 92-94pts Wine Advocate
"The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Amoureuses was picked on 24 September and includes 15% whole cluster fruit, which makes its mark on the nose, infusing the fruit with allspice and cloves. It expands beautifully in the glass – a quintessential Amoureuses. The palate is medium-bodied with silky smooth, velvety tannins that caress the sumptuous finish that belies that structure underneath. Long and assertive on the aftertaste, this will require several years in bottle. Superb." - Neal Martin
