Tasting Note: As fresh as a bubbly Alpine stream, this superb Savoie sparkler sees the local jacquère grape take centre stage, blended with chardonnay and pinot noir. Without any added sugar this is bone-dry, light and refreshing.
Varietals: Jacquère 60%, Pinot Noir 20%, Chardonnay 20%
The Estate : While there are many Quénards in the village of Chignin, the wines of Jean-François and his daughter Anne-Sophie easily stand out for their quality. Thus, the yeasts used are indigenous and the sulfur is used very sparingly. Many of our vines are at the foot of the mountain with slopes of up to 45% and more. So everything has to be done by hand. The grape variety is mainly focused on indigenous grape varieties of Savoy, namely: Mondeuse, Persan, Roussette (Altesse), Bergeron (Roussanne), Jacquère. We work our soils with a winch, horse, inter-stock depending on the plot, topography and grape variety. To respect the grapes, the harvest is manual and the fermentations with native yeasts. The team is made up of Paul, Edouard, Isabel, Marlène, Thibaut, Catherine, Anne-Sophie and Jean-Francois. Each one being versatile and essential for our Domain. Jean-Pierre was my grandfather, Jean-Francois is my father and I (Anne-Sophie) have just returned to the family farm to continue the story.
