Originally from upstate New York, Michele D’Aprix worked as a bartender in Boston while studying Organic Chemistry at UMass. Her ability to multi-task was finely honed behind the bar. Those years in service, along with her extremely limited lab skills, landed Michele her first winery job at Dry Creek Vineyard in California as an assistant to the enologist.
She loved the job so much that she decided to enroll in UC Davis’s Fermentation Science program and 5 years later she earned her 2nd degree in Viticulture & Enology.
In search of more experience, Michele found work at wineries in the Rhône Valley and South Africa, finally arriving in Bordeaux, where she trained with the accomplished and highly-regarded vigneron Stéphane Derenocourt. Fully-immersed at this point, she studied his methodology in both the vineyard and cellar, combining the fine art of organic farming and minimal intervention winemaking. Ready to add her own touch after few years, Michele became the winemaker at a small property in the Montagne-St Emilion A.O.C. where she developed a solo project, calling it "Pentimento.” At the start of it, and to this day (much to her surprise), she is the only American woman making her own wine in the region of Bordeaux. She now splits her winemaking efforts
between Bordeaux, Costières de Nîmes (France) and Montsant (Spain), where she has multiple projects. Michele spends a large amount of her state-side time working the market with her distribution partners.
There will be food pairings to match the tasting of four wines! Don't miss this special event! Seating is limited so secure your spot!!

🛎 When you arrive to the store location for the event, check in at either the registers located in the front of the stores or the bar area in the rear by giving the name you provided when purchasing the ticket(s) (if uncertain, consult your order confirmation email).
⌛️ Events are advertised with a start and end time, but tend to run longer because everyone is having a great time.
👔 There is no dress code for attending in-store events. The most important thing is that customers are comfortable when they attend any of our store events. Most tastings and wine classes are casual and laidback while wine dinners featuring higher-end wines typically inspire business casual attire, though not "formal".
🏷 One of the perks of attending Triangle Wine Company events is the opportunity to purchase wines showcased during the tasting (some may be rare/small production, some are offered at a significant discount depending on purchase quantity). However there is no obligation to do so. Email subscribers sometimes receive an exclusive offer to purchase event wines at a reduced price (if not the full event discount) after the live event.
🧀 Most events feature foods, from light snacks (crackers, nuts, cheese, fruit) to multi-course dinners. Generally, food served will not be nut-allergy safe or vegan-friendly unless specified. Those with severe allergies and other dietary considerations should contact us and we may be able to accommodate requests, but this is not something we can guarantee nor do we assume responsibility for an individual's medical needs.
